Mercy Regional Cancer Center Hosts 15th Annual Cancer Care Symposium
Port Huron , MI … Mercy Regional Cancer Center will host the 15 th Annual Mercy Cancer Care Symposium, focusing on Male & Urological Malignancy. The symposium is designed to provide primary care physicians, surgeons, oncologists, urologists and other health care professionals who treat or care for patients with cancer an in depth educational activity featuring state-of-the-art treatment protocols and clinical strategies for the treatment and management of cancer.
Mercy’s Cancer Care Symposium will be held 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, November 11, in the Mercy Hospital cafetorium. Five AMA PRA Category 1 Credits will be offered. The event is sponsored in collaboration with the St. Clair County CME Consortium. Mercy is the only oncology program to host an annual cancer symposium providing continuing cancer education.
Local cancer care experts as well as specialists from across Southeastern Michigan, including Wayne State University and Karmanos Cancer Institute, will present on a broad-range of topics as they relate to male malignancy, including innovative approaches in robotic radical prostatectomy. The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons has recognized the Mercy Regional Cancer Center as offering the very best in cancer care. In its most recent annual report, the Mercy Regional Cancer Center reported that its five year survival rates for those treated for prostate cancer surpass rates reported by the National Cancer Data Base.
