Tri Hospital MRI will soon offer 3 Tesla MRI technology
Port Huron, MI -- Tri Hospital MRI, the joint imaging service of Mercy, Port Huron and St. John River District hospitals, has purchased a new Philips 3 Tesla (3T) MRI system.
The new system, will be located on the northeast corner of Port Huron Hospital, should be operational in early October. The equipment has been delivered. Once the equipment is in place and set-up is complete, testing will take place and training will begin.
The new MRI system, a Philips Achieva 3T, represents the latest technology in clinical imaging and offers many patient comfort features:
- Largest 3T opening of MRIs on the market
- Patient friendly design puts people at ease
- Faster exams
- Reduced need for contrast agents
- Reduces noise levels by as much as 86%
The 3T offers exceptional image quality with highly detailed images, allowing radiologists to identify potential problems, and providing physicians with more information for a more accurate diagnosis. A compact, ultra-high-field MRI system, the new system's patient applications include:
- Minimally invasive scanning capability to the entire body
- Musculoskeletal imaging
- Neurological imaging
- Vascular system imaging
- Enhanced breast imaging application
Once the new 3T MRI is in place at Port Huron Hospital, Tri Hospital’s existing GE 1.5T MRI will travel between Mercy Health Center in Fort Gratiot and St. John River District Hospital in East China. This gives patients the option of having an MRI performed at three different geographical locations and gives them easy access close to home.
