Two outstanding groups of Mercy Hospital supporters visited Mercy Hospital recently to present benefit checks resulting from CelticFest events held in early March 2008.
Representatives from the Kearns family (pictured left) presented Mercy Hospital President and CEO Peter Karadjoff with a $6,000 check to support digital mammography services at Mercy Hospital. The benefit was the result of the Betty Kearns Little Black Dress event.
“This contribution will be extremely helpful as we work to announce plans to provide digital mammography services at both Mercy Hospital and Mercy Health Center in Fort Gratiot Township,” comments Peter Karadjoff. “Although all the details are not complete, Mercy Hospital expects to announce its provision of highly-advanced digital mammography services in the coming months. Grass roots programs such as this have been instrumental in making this program a reality. On behalf of the women this service will help, we wish to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Betty Kearns family.”

The proceeds, from an “Irish Tea” held in early March 2008, will be used to benefit the Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health. For their generous contributions throughout the years, the Daughters of Isabella are members of the elite McAuley Circle, a philanthropic designation through the Mercy Hospital Foundation. |
Mercy Hospital also received a visit from representatives of the Daughters of Isabella, who presented a $1,800 check to the Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health.
This donation was the result of an Irish Tea, honoring Mercy Hospital Foundress Sister Catherine McAuley. Inspired by Terry Nolan, owner of the Irish Rose in Port Huron, the tea was designed to highlight the contributions of Irish heroine Catherine McAuley.
“We were so pleased to be the beneficiary of this outstanding community event,” continues Peter. “Its goal was to not only raise funds for the Peoples’ Clinic, but was truly a celebration of Mercy Hospital’s rich Irish heritage. I want to thank and congratulate both Terry Nolan and the Daughters of Isabella for bringing this unique event to Mercy Hospital.”
