Father Paul Higdon Celebrates 60th Jubilee

The year 2006 marks an important anniversary in the life of Mercy Hospital Chaplain Father Paul Higdon; it is a celebration of the 60 years he continues to serve as a Catholic Priest.

Mercy Hospital Chaplain since 1984, Father Paul, who is 87 years old, visits patients regularly at Mercy each day. His office is located adjoining the hospital Chapel, where he offers Mass four times a week.

A dedicated community member, Father Paul also offers Mass at St. Mary Parish and the Guadalupe Mission, both in Port Huron. In addition to making visits to organizations throughout the community, he regularly makes calls on the residents of Mercy Marydale Center and The Village at Mercy Health Center.

With a wave and a smile, Father Paul doesn’t miss an opportunity to greet people he meets at Mercy. Whether a staff member, patient or guest, Father Paul touches everyone with warmth and caring.

“I enjoy my ministry at Mercy Hospital,” comments Father Paul Hidgon. “Mercy has always been dedicated to providing quality health care and services, but it is the organization’s commitment to the spiritual health of the community that is so inspiring.”

“Father Paul is truly one of our hospital’s greatest spiritual assets,” comments Peter Karadjoff, Mercy Hospital President & CEO. “ Mercy Hospital continually strives to fulfill its role in faith-based healthcare for the betterment of our community, and Father Paul continues to be an inspiration and guiding force for us all. We are truly honored that Father Paul continues to share his spiritual and healing ministry at Mercy Hospital.”
