Strength Through Survival Unveiling Planned
Honoring women who have overcome incredible obstacles in their battle against breast cancer will be the focus of two events this fall. The events are sponsored by Rose Norton, a local photographer, through her Portraits of Distinction Series. Titled: Strength Through Survival this exhibit is a collection of up to 50 photographs of local breast cancer survivors.
The events are designed to provide inspiration during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, and will include:
Strength Through Survival Preview Party
This event includes the premier exhibition unveiling and will be held Wednesday, October 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Thomas Edison Inn, Ivy Room. There is no charge for admission.
High Tea & Fashion Show
This exciting event will feature a tea and fashion show by Macy’s and Catherine’s. The event will be held Sunday, October 21, at Fore Lakes Golf Club. Tickets are sold in advance for this event and are $20/person or $175 for a table of 10. Ticket-holders are invited to bring a platter of sweets to share as well as table settings and their favorite tea service. In addition to raffle drawings and the fashion show, prizes will be awarded to the table that best represents a theme.
“October is the perfect time to showcase the women in our community who have overcome breast cancer,” comments Rose Norton. “Their survival is truly inspirational providing encouragement to other women.”
For more information about the events and to purchase tickets, please contact Rose Norton at (810) 984-1404. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Funds raised from these events will benefit the Mercy Hospital Pink Ribbon Fund, which provides financial assistance to women in our community who lack health insurance and are in need of advanced breast cancer diagnosis. |
