ASC Bestows Honors on Mercy Hospital
For nearly a quarter of a century Mercy Hospital — and its Mercy Regional Cancer Center — has been working in conjunction with the American Cancer Society (ASC) to fight cancer and provide outstanding supports and services to patients throughout the region.
The American Cancer Society, Great Lakes Division, Inc., recently honored Mercy Hospital with the Five Star Community Investor and Five Star Investor Awards to highlight Mercy’s active work in fighting cancer both internally within the workplace and throughout the community.
Mercy Hospital was honored for its commitment to its:
- providing the active Mercy Cancer Committee, and publication of the www.cancer.org website;
- Reach to Recovery program;
- breast and cervical cancer programs;
- celebrating cancer survivors;
- holding cancer screenings; and
- commitment to tobacco prevention and cessation.
“We are extremely pleased with the recognition the Mercy Regional Cancer Center has received,” comments Peter Karadjoff, President & CEO of Mercy Hospital. “It is a testament to the dedication of our staff and our vast array of cancer services focused on providing the highest quality cancer care close to home.”
Mercy Hospital was the first hospital in the community to receive this type of prestigious award from the American Cancer Society in 2004.
