Peoples’ Clinic Announces Need for Volunteer Registered Nurses

Port Huron’s only free medical clinic serving St. Clair County is currently recruiting volunteer registered nurses.

Volunteer registered nurses must be willing to provide professional services in four-hour work blocks, accept a flexible schedule, be licensed by the State of Michigan, and offer proven basic nursing skills.

Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health is cosponsored by the St. Clair County Medical Society and Mercy Hospital; and is funded in part by the United Way of St. Clair County.

Basic medical services are provided to those 18 to 64 years of age, who lack health insurance and the financial resources to pay for their care. The clinic operates Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week, and opens at 8 a.m.

“As the community continues to experience economic decline, we are seeing an increased influx of patients in need of health care,” comments Linda Lalonde, RN, Director of the Peoples’ Clinic. “The need for volunteer assistance in providing care becomes even more necessary. This is a terrific opportunity for any registered nurse who might want to provide volunteer services to the community.”
