Health Tip

Foods to fight stroke: Foods that are known to be beneficial for stroke prevention includes those rich in potassium (bananas, apricots, potatoes), calcium (low-fat dairy products), omega-3 fatty acids (salmon, flax seed) and fiber (whole grain cereals, fruits and vegetables).

At least five servings per day of both fruits and vegetables are recommended. Each serving of fruits or vegetables was associated with a four percent reduction in stroke risk, according to data from the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study.
