Mercy Wine Event Nets $45,000 for Peoples’ Clinic
With a little glitz, and a lot of glamour, 300
individuals helped raise $45,000 to benefit the Peoples’ Clinic
for Better Health at the Fourth Annual Vineyards of
the World wine tasting event, hosted by the Mercy Hospital
Foundation and Wright & Filippis.
The recently held event at Fore Lakes Golf Club included
an outstanding wine tasting extravaganza and taste-tantalizing
hors d’oeuvres created to compliment
wine choices. Participants also enjoyed outstanding music and access to area
wine experts to learn more about exceptional wines from around the world.
The focus of the event was placed on the Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health
and the outstanding medical care it provides to those in the community who are
uninsured or underinsured and lack the financial resources to pay for their care.
Peoples’ Clinic is one of the hallmarks of the Mercy Hospital values: to
provide care to the poor and underserved. It is a collaborative project of Mercy
Hospital and the St. Clair County Medical Society. Physician volunteers provide
care to area patients three days a week. Funding is also provided through the
United Way of St. Clair County to support its prescription medication services.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who participated in this year’s
event,” comment Sondra Briese, of the Mercy Hospital Foundation. “We
couldn’t have offered such an outstanding evening without the support of
our area corporate sponsors and the dedication of Wright & Filippis, who
has cosponsored the event since its inception. A lot of area residents who are
in desperate need of medical services and care will be the ultimate beneficiaries
of the community’s generosity. Thanks again to everyone!”
