Mercy Hospital — Your Access to the Michigan Stroke Network
Minutes truly matter for patients experiencing a stroke. That’s why Mercy Hospital is a member of the Michigan Stroke Network.
This advanced “telemedicine” system offers Mercy’s patients direct access to highly trained stroke specialists. Utilizing an advanced robot and computer system, Mercy Hospital’s emergency room is directly linked to stroke treatment resources available only at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Oakland County.
This system provides state-of-the-art treatment with helicopter evacuation when necessary to provide the most advanced surgical and medical care to stroke patients in the community.
Once patients are stabilized, they can then be transferred back to Mercy Hospital for admission in Mercy’s Inpatient Rehabilitation program. Mercy offers the only hospital-based inpatient rehabilitation program in the region.
Although patients sometimes choose to go to a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitative care, services provided through Mercy can save valuable “Nursing Home Days” as provided through Medicare which then can be used for less intensive treatment as a patient continues the journey of recovery.
For more information about this impressive array of emergency stroke and continued care rehabilitation services, go to the Inpatient Rehabilitation and Stroke section of this website. |
