Tickets Still Available: It’s Motorcycles for Mercy!

Dr. Jun Garcia
Enter to win this 2007 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail motorcycle for only $50 per ticket. Worth $19,000, tickets are going fast.

The perfect way to cool down while looking hot in the warm days ahead — there is still time to purchase your ticket to win a 2007 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail. What’s better than zooming away on your new bike? Knowing that you have supported Port Huron’s only free medical clinic for the poor and uninsured — The Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health. Tickets are still available to win this exciting motorcycle. The cost is only $50.

In its second year, Motorcycles for Mercy is only weeks away. The event is hosted and coordinated by area volunteers and organizations, and is designed to help financially support the Peoples’ Clinic.

Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health is cosponsored by the St. Clair County Medical Society and Mercy Hospital, and is funded in part by the United Way of St. Clair County. It is available to St. Clair County residents 18 to 64 years of age who lack health insurance and the ability to pay for their care.

This year, the event has grown even larger and includes the resources of local groups and organizations including:

  •   Acheson Ventures
  •   Blue Water Area Convention & Visitors Bureau
  •   Gilbert’s Harley-Davidson of Port Huron
  •   Port Huron Motorcycle Club

The event has been sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA).

This year’s Motorcycles for Mercy will be held Sunday, September 9, and will begin at the Port Huron Motorcycle Club, located at 3376 Griswold Road, in Port Huron. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with a rider meeting at 10:30 a.m. The poker run will conclude at 4 p.m. at the Seaway Terminal in Port Huron.

In addition, the event includes a Classic Bike Show and a special appearance by the Detroit Brothers — a custom bike shop — beginning at 1 p.m. at the Seaway Terminal. The cost of participating is $15 per person.

If you’re interested in learning more about this event or would like to purchase $50 raffle tickets, please call the Blue Water Area Convention and Visitors Bureau at 1 (800) 852-4242; or email: bluewater@bluewater.org.
