Mercy’s commitment to the health of the communities it serves is evidenced by the many partnerships developed to meet the needs of the community. Some of these partnerships include:
- Lakeshore Surgery Center, LLP. One of the first of its kind in the State of Michigan, Lakeshore Surgery Center is a joint venture between Mercy Hospital and local surgeons working in concert to provide physician-managed outpatient surgical services.
- Mercy Family Care is a primary care physician network in which Mercy supports medical practice management for physicians.
- Tri-Hospital MRI, a joint venture of Mercy Hospital, Port Huron and St. John River District hospitals. Diagnostic testing MRI services are provided at Port Huron Hospital with mobile services offered at Mercy Health Center in Fort Gratiot and River District Hospital.
- Tri-Hospital EMS, a joint venture of Mercy Hospital, Port Huron and St. John River District hospitals. Services are offered to provide rapid emergency medical response throughout the county.
- Launched in 1993, Partner at Heart is a cardiovascular joint operating agreement with Port Huron Hospital. Partners at Heart provides a continuum of cardiovascular services to patients throughout the Blue Water communities. As community-based hospitals, neither Mercy nor Port Huron Hospital could provide these important services alone. Only working in concert and combining resources can Partners at Heart offer this unique and valuable array of cardiac services.
Mercy extends its assistance and support to a number of community-based organizations. Through the Mercy Community Benefit Ministry program, the hospital provides funding and access to resources to elevate the status of our community.
- Access to resources is offered through the Mercy Community Sponsorship Committee, providing both financial sponsorships and support to area events, activities and projects.
- For nearly 20 years Mercy Hospital, in conjunction with the St. Clair County Medical Society, provides for care of the poor and uninsured through the Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health. The clinic provides primary care services through the dedication of volunteer physicians. It is supported by a vast array of community agencies and volunteers, including the United Way of St. Clair County.
- The Mercy Cares program is designed to provide financial support and resources to those in the community in need of quality medical services. Mercy Cares is administrated through the hospital’s financial department offering assistance in meeting the financial burden of the poor and uninsured.
Peoples’ Clinic and the Mercy Care program are the centerpieces of the Mercy Hospital Foundation and its work to provide philanthropic support to the “community in need” while fulfilling the Mercy value of respect for the poor and underserved.
